variations on: meadowood's cheez-it

who doesn't like a good cheez-it? no really. who? i know this hamster does.

i used to eat cheez-its and pepperidge farm goldfish all the time as a kid. loved them. and then some time shortly after college, i developed some fierce lactose intolerance. very upsetting. i have since beat that intolerance, and am now back on friendly terms with cheese ... and cheez-its, in any form really. my favie form being those served at fine dining establishments. even they enjoy a good childhood snack from time to time.

so i've signed myself up for the task of discovering and documenting variations on the cheez-it. the first in this series is from meadowood up in st helena. a thin crispy shell filled with creamy fromage blanc, topped with a flower petal and tiny herbs. not the same "pow in your face" burst of cheesy flavor from the original cracker, but rather pleasant with the contrasting textures. and i do rather enjoy the slight tang and subtle flavor of fromage blanc. definitely a nice start to the meal.

do you think we'll find cheez-its on our travels? i hope so!

As the world turns...

Seems I'll always have to roll with the punches...recently got word that our trip's structure will not go as we originally planned, or as we re-planned. Yep! This should just about be the 3rd or 4th iteration of figuring this whole thing out. Somewhat frustrating for sure, but as I keep telling myself, I just have to find a way. So that's what we'll do. But regardless of what gets thrown as us, I just have to stay organized, bang shit out and find a way. On the upside, looks like we'll be seeing more of Japan than in the original plan. And that can't be too bad now can it? I just hope I don't go broke in the process. All I know is that S has saved me from myself many times over.
